Web2forDev: Web 2.0 for Development Gateway

We promised to release a French version of Participatory Learning and Action 59: Change at hand: Web 2.0 for development. It took us some times but finally we have the pleasure to inform you that the bilingual version is available in DVD format.  Since we received numerous requests for copies of CTA multimedia productions on Web 2.0 in Africa, we included these as well.

Web 2.0 tools and approaches are radically changing the ways we create, share, collaborate and publish digital information through the internet. This bilingual DVD shares learning and reflections from practice and considers the ways forward for using Web 2.0 for development. It contains PDF versions of articles based on presentations made at the international Web2forDev conference in September 2007 at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters.

It also includes a series of short introductions to Web 2.0 tools and relevant internet resources, as well as tips for trainers and the following two video documentaries:

• Web 2.0 Tamed: Experiences of rural women in Africa. This 15 minute CTA production documents the experiences of African rural women not previously exposed to information technology, over the course of one year.
• Web 2.0 in Africa: Agriculture and New Technologies. This eight minute Business Africa/CTA production documents case studies on the use of Web 2.0 applications in the development sector, specifically among farmers in Uganda.

• Le Web 2.0 apprivoisé : Expériences de femmes rurales en Afrique. Cette vidéo de 15 minutes, produite par le CTA, documente l’expérience sur un an de femmes rurales africaines qui n’avaient auparavant quasiment aucune connaissance des technologies de l’information.
• Le Web 2.0 en Afrique : Agriculture et Nouvelles Technologies. Cette vidéo de huit minutes, produite par Business Africa/CTA, documente des cas d’utilisation d’applications Web 2.0 dans le secteur du développement, plus particulièrement par des agriculteurs ougandais.
