Internship Opportunity at CTA - ICT4D and Web 2.0 for Development
Friday, 16 December 2011 15:47
During the period 2010-2011, CTA successfully implemented Web 2.0 training events known as Web 2.0 Learning Opportunities (LOs) in 14 ACP countries. This resulted in the training of approximately 900 people, 33% women. Feedback from beneficiaries (individuals and institutions) has been extremely positive and requests for replication of the initiative in other countries have been pouring in. Each LO lasts for 5 days and accommodates approximately 25-28 trainees, who are selected, based on applications submitted after an open call. One day of the training is devoted to the introduction to the IMARK module “Social Media for Development” and this allows trainees additional opportunities for perfecting skills through a self-learning offline approach.

Technological innovation is taking place at a breath-taking pace. Simple, open source internet-based applications and services designed to enhance on-line collaboration are now available to the wider public at little or no cost at all. These new online technologies known as Web 2.0 applications - sometimes called ‘social media’ - enable people to collaborate to create, share and publish information. The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation EU-ACP (CTA), in collaboration with the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) and UN/ECLAC, will host a 5-day Web 2.0 Learning Opportunity starting from Monday, 05 March 2012.
